Wasdale Head Inn
About
Wasdale Head Inn stands at the foot of England’s highest mountain, the Lake District’s most dramatic fell. The nine‑room inn, complemented by three superior cottages and a range of self‑catering apartments, offers stunning views of the Wasdale Valley and the surrounding fells. Each room is en‑suite, with tea‑and‑coffee facilities, television and Wi‑Fi on request. The property is a popular base for walkers, climbers and nature lovers visiting Scafell Pike, the deepest lake, smallest church and the WWII‑era “World’s Biggest Liar” – all within a few minutes’ walk. Guests can enjoy free‑flowing local ales in the bar, family‑friendly dining at the on‑site restaurant, or simply relax by the fireplace in the welcome lounge. The inn also houses a small campsite – an inexpensive £6 per person per night – and serves as a proud supporter of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team. A £1 donation is added to all accommodation bookings as a voluntary contribution to the rescue team. The inn’s warm hospitality, comfortable accommodation and convenient location make it an ideal overnight base for those looking to explore the fells, take in the autumn colours or simply unwind in the countryside.
