About

Bampton is located in the Eastern Fells, also known to many as the quieter side of the Lakes away from the madness of Windermere and the southern lakes and the crowds of people but close enough to visit for a day trip. We are located close to Penrith and the A6/M6. Our village is beautiful, with links to Haweswater and Helton fell, Askham and Lowther castle, a must see for our visitors. One of the most wonderful sights is the ruin of Shap Abbey which stands desolate in the most bucolic setting. Lowther castle is again a must see, suitable for all the family for walks and adventures with the added benefit of cycle hire and many other potential adventures such as Horse trecking days. The valley has something to offer everyone, book now to avoid disappointment.Bampton Village Shop, Café and Post Office is set in the beautiful eden valley, a stones-throw from Haweswater Reservoir and on the doorstep for lots of wonderful walks and views. The village is quiet and a relaxing place to be, somewhere that you can leave the manic world behind, breathe and relax. Our Shop Just like any village store, we try to stock all the everyday staples and essentials that you would need. However we also place additional emphasis, upon supporting local businesses, farmers and suppliers, ensuring continued employment in our local villages and towns, and a sustainable local economy. We are more than happy to discuss any new local suppliers products, so get in touch, if you have something to offer get in contact. Bampton village shop is situated, in the idyllic Lowther valley, within Eden the National park of Cumbria and site of special scientific interest with its many attractions and sight seeing opportunities like our RSPB reserves and unspoiled uninterrupted views. Bampton truly is a beautiful village, whether visiting in summer, or winter, with its' own cult following from the Withnail & I film , idyllically peaceful, and a stones throw away from steam boat trips over on Ullswater, the history of the fells and the local legend of Wainwright and his infamous walks. A Helton fell walk to watch the sun set or rise is a must see and memorable event. We are proud to say that our store boasts a wide selection of locally grown, procured and produced local products and produce. Like We try to work, as much as possible, with award winning local farmers, to ensure that they receive a fair price for their products, and to enable us, to provide local produce, fresh from the field, whilst cutting down upon our food miles, and hence reducing our environmental impact. We believe, that by supporting other local businesses, and retailing their products and produce, we are assisting in the employment, of local people, and assisting in the growth of our local economy.
