Holy Trinity Church
About
Holy Trinity Goodramgate is a secretive treasure tucked behind the bustling lanes of York’s main street. The church’s low‑lit interior, characterised by uneven stone floors and towering gothic arches, is lit by candles, creating a contemplative ambience. Its most celebrated feature is the magnificent east window, where 15th‑century stained glass donated by Reverend John Walker bursts with colour. Beneath the pews lies a rich collection of monuments, including ledgers etched with the names of York’s historical mayors. Visitors can enjoy a quiet moment by ringing the Peace Bell outside the porch or taking a self‑guided Mouse Trail through the churchyard. The building is largely free to enter, though donations are encouraged to support its conservation. Open every day from Wednesday to Sunday; in winter hours are 11:00‑15:00 and in summer they extend to 11:00‑16:00, subject to volunteer availability.
