About

The Old Tower is regarded as the defining landmark of Haslach. Once it was part of a defensive fortification, which surrounded the town and protected from intruders. It was erected between 1483 and 1487, but considerably damaged in the fire of 1910. Since 1927 the old tower houses the Heimathaus of Haslach. The extensive collection in the tower consists of a variety of historical objects such as household and agricultural items, tools of various artisans, geological finds, old townscapes, reverse glass paintings, glasses, carved statues, old coats of arms, clocks, a collection of historical weapons and many other objects that bear witness of the market town’s history. A particular object of interest is a model of Haslach from around 1800. Visitors might delve into the multifaceted past of a place that was first mentioned in a document in 1256, and understand how the political, social, economic and cultural condition of the various eras have influenced the lives of people in Haslach.
