About
In the fully stocked general store of the KAUFMANNSMUSEUMS [Merchant’s Museum] one can experience the authentic shopping atmosphere of the period around 1920 as it prevailed in these parts in many villages until the 1960s. Drawers full of a colourful mix of things for daily use, nostalgic advertising billboards, historical packaging, colonial goods and much more takes one back to a time when the local supply played a central role in the village. Ringing brandnames such as Stollwerck, Bensdorp, Manner, Kirstein-Blockmalz, Alma, Sirius, Libella, Hirsch-Seife, etc. not only remind of grandma’s times but bring topics into focus which gain actuality in view of the new concepts of local supply.
