Le Cordaneum - Le Centre De La Lutherie Et Du Violon
About
The Cordaneum, the result of collaboration between the Town of Marche and luthier Gauthier Louppe, is a space dedicated to the art of lutherie. Founded in April 2010, this unique space invites you to discover the fascinating world of string quartet instrument making. Permanent exhibition: immerse yourself in the world of stringed-instrument making, and discover how stringed instruments are made. The museum recreates the violinmaker's workshop, where the various stages in the creation of an instrument are revealed, from the initial design and choice of wood to the meticulous application of varnish. The didactic part of the exhibition presents the successive phases in the making of a violin, with actual pieces under construction. Notions of acoustic physics and science are also covered, providing a better understanding of the evolution of instruments. Classical, historical and varied instruments are on display to illustrate.
