Lapad Patisserie - Pekara Rusica
About
We arrived on the late plane and the hotel directed us to an expensive seafood restaurant in Lapad. It was empty so we didn't like it, so we wandered off up to the shopping area, where there are a few open-air terraces and shops, like United Colours of Benetton. There we came across a patisserie where we filled up on fresh large slices of pizza, borek and cherry pie, among others, all very good value at around 10 - 12 Kuna each, which is less than £1.5 at 2010 exchange rates. I'd reccomend this for a budget meal, and with weather so mild you can sit on a bench to eat anywhere, like the locals seem to do. This is at the end of the pedestrian promenade of Lapad, where there are also many al fresco terrace cafes and restaurants. Another place to eat is at Casa restaurant, at the sea-front end of the promenade, which was very beautiful and great food, but at the higher end, around £40 for a meal for two. Near the patisserie in the shopping area there is also a supermarket, which stocks all kind of foods, cosmetics, towels and daily necessities. There are cash machines as well, such as the local Societe Generale which is near the patisserie.
