Zpivajici fontana
About
The Singing Fountain (Zpívající Fontána) is one of the most beloved landmarks of Mariánské Lázně, a UNESCO‑listed spa town in the Czech Republic. Perched on the colonnade beside the statue of Abbot Reitenberger, the 18‑metre‑diameter circular basin is encircled by a twelve‑piece stone sculpture of a stylised flower, designed by academic architect Pavel Mikšík. Every day from 7 am until 10 pm, the fountain springs to life: water jets burst in rhythmic patterns that synchronize with an eclectic music program played at odd hours, and the final hour of the day (9 pm and 10 pm) is illuminated by colorful LED lights. The fountain underwent its most extensive reconstruction in 2024‑2025, receiving a modern sound system and LED lighting while preserving its historic character. The venue is fully wheelchair‑accessible and free to visit, making it a must‑stop for families, history lovers, and music enthusiasts alike. Its gentle, family‑friendly atmosphere combined with the unique blend of art, engineering, and nature has earned it acclaim as a cultural gem of the region.
