Vila Primavesi
About
The art nouveau Villa Primavesi in Olomouc was built in 1906 by the banking family Otto and Eugenia Primavesi. The design was entrusted to the famous architectural couple Franz von Krauss and Josef Tölk. The architects masterfully combined the Art Nouveau style of the time with a modern trend into a richly structured family house. The Primavesi family supported the art of the time, which is why leading artists such as Anton Hanak, architect Josef Hoffmann and painter Gustav Klimt took part in the decoration. The era of the Primavesi family in Moravia ended in 1918 with the collapse of Austria-Hungary. They sold their property and moved to Vienna. In 1926, Dr. Koutný rebuilt the villa according to the project of the builder Julio Schmalz into a private sanatorium. In 1939, Dr. Robert Pospíšil took over the sanatorium. In 1952, the sanatorium was nationalized. After 1989, the villa was returned to the descendants of Dr. Pospíšil. Villa Primavesi has been a national cultural monument.
