Gl. Brydegaard

Gl. Brydegaard is a hotel, a restaurant and a conference facility. The farm was originally built in 1796 and for many many years it was an ordinary Danish farm with cultivated fields. In about 1940 the farm was turned into a guesthouse for wealthy people from Copenhagen, who came here by train to stay for the summer. In 1980 the old builings burned to the grown only leaving the old pigsty intact. The farm was rebuilt and in 2004 Gl. Brydegaards current owner, Connie, bought the place. The area around Gl. Brydegaard is very suited for bikeriding and walking, and especially the peninsula Helnæs is renowed for being a wonderful area for trout fishing. Feddet is a preserved areas due to the many larks and swallows which breads in the area. One of the things very special about Funen is the fact that it the island is known as Denmarks kitchen garden and Funen is a gastronomic delight.
