Thrige Powerstation
About
Thrige Power Station is a well-preserved industrial building of national importance built in 1916. The power plant used to be the heart of Thrige’s large factory complex, and a large diesel engine and two steam turbines supplied electricity and heat to the entire plant - and power Odense’s “Skibhus Quarter”. The power plant was conserved in 2005 and contains a rare intact interior from the childhood of electrical engineering. The diesel engine at Thrige Power Station is today still operated on fixed opening days - the first Saturday of the month (except January and July). Experience when the Diesel Group starts the machine and see the exhibition "HIGH SPEED! Thomas B. Thrige, the company and the Power Center" about Thomas B. Thrige’s life and work in Odense.
