For 2000 years, Agde has secretly cultivated her beauty. Feminine and extravagant, the Black Pearl of the Mediterranean reveals herself to those who know how to coax such exuberant gifts. Within her dark facades of volcanic rock a golden vibrance glows. A city where waters and cultures meet, a pearl of pearls nourished by a melting pot of influences, illuminated by a unique and spectacular beacon of Art Deco, the emblematic château Laurens. Since 2012, the Galerie de la Perle Noire presents creators from the South and the Mediterranean, and each year hosts two exhibitions featuring a selection of paintings, sculptures, and unique artworks. Also the departure point for a circuit of the Artists’ Studios of the Perle Noire which accommodate over thirty artists in residence.
