Chateau Rochebelle Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe
About
Château Rochebelle, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, covers 3 hectares of vines in an exceptional setting on the asteriated limestone plateau. The vineyard is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc and the plants boast an average age of 45 years. Even those without an interest in wine will not fail to be enchanted by Rochebelle’s 18th century monolithic cellars. Formerly used for rock mining, hence the name Rochebelle meaning ‘beautiful rock’, these cellars have since become a place of interest for wine lovers. There are no cave paintings along the walls here but a harmonious alignment of oak barrels that are renewed every single year. It is in the dimly lit, calm environment of these cellars that Rochebelle’s wines are left to rest. A constant temperature of 13°C and a humidity level of 90% provide the perfect environment for our treasure trove of older vintages.
