La Galerie des Glaces
About
Nestled on the first floor of the Palace of Versailles, the Hall of Mirrors (Grande Galerie) is one of the most iconic rooms in European Baroque architecture. With 17 arched façades studded with more than 350 mirrors, the gallery frames a spectacular panorama of the palace gardens and reflects centuries of royal pomp and power. The ceiling, painted by Charles Le Brun, narrates France’s triumphs under Louis XIV, while the gilded bronze and marble furnishings amplify its regal grandeur. Visitors can admire the Hall’s artistic and historical significance and walk through the same space where pivotal moments—such as the signing of the Treaty of Versailles—unfolded.
