Fort La Latte - Chateau de la Roche Goyon
About
Fort La Latte, also known as Château de la Roche Goyon, is a striking medieval fortress perched on a rocky cape overlooking the Emerald Coast in Brittany. Built in the 14th century, its granite walls and imposing keep have sheltered countless survivors of wars and sieges, and the castle has even featured in several popular films and TV shows. Today, the castle welcomes visitors year‑round (with special closures during the winter vacation period) for guided and free tours that last about one to two hours. The castle offers a unique blend of historical intrigue, dramatic coastal scenery and interactive exhibits that delight families, history enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Inside the fortress, visitors can explore the barbican, the neatly kept cistern, the chapel, the dungeon and the iconic menhir named "Doigt de Gargantua"—a giant stone that forms a little legend about an old giant. Audio guides are available for individual visitors, while the castle also offers group tours for schools and other organized groups with a minimum of 20 people. Admission is just €8,50 for adults, €7,00 for students, €5,50 for children aged 6‑11, and free for children under five. Tickets are sold on site, so there is no requirement or a need for prior reservation for a single visit. However, group reservations can be booked online or via email for large parties or special events.
