Treptower Park
About
Treptower Park is Berlin’s largest public green space, spanning nearly 88 hectares in the eastern district of Treptow‑Köpenick. Created in 1876 as a municipal park, it today offers a mix of serene woodland, expansive lawns, playgrounds, and a number of cultural landmarks. At the centre stands the imposing Soviet War Memorial, a solemn tribute to the 80,000 Soviet soldiers who fell during the Battle of Berlin, and it is one of the city’s most visited memorials. In addition to its historical significance, the park hosts a large playground, a designated picnic area, a small lake with a floating boat rental, and a beer garden – all operated in a family‑friendly atmosphere. The lush trees and winding paths make it a favourite escape for locals and tourists alike, especially during the warm summer months or when spring brings colourful flowers to the rose garden. The park’s open‑air concerts, events, and art installations further enrich the visitor experience, offering a diverse range of activities for people of all ages.
