About

Pillnitz Palace & Park, an elegant Baroque palace complex nestled on the right bank of the Elbe River just outside Dresden, offers a blend of regal history and lush botanical gardens. The site consists of the historic Riverside Palace (Wasserpalais), the upper hillside Palace (Bergpalais), and the Neoclassical New Palace that now houses the Palace Museum. Visitors can explore richly furnished rooms, the kitchen with its historic copperware, and the royal chapel. Beyond the palaces, the park spreads 28 hectares of European and Oriental-inspired gardens, featuring the iconic Camellia japonica tree, a Chinese pavilion, an English pavilion, and a replica of a royal gondola. The park is free to enter during the winter half‑year, while a small admission fee applies most of the year. The Palm House, a 19th‑century glass greenhouse, showcases tropical flora and is open daily from 10 to 15 h. Whether strolling through the winding alleys or admiring the historic architecture, visitors to Pillnitz Palace & Park experience both cultural heritage and horticultural grandeur.
