About

The Zeppelin Museum in Friedrichshafen stands proudly on the banks of Lake Constance, housed in the historic Hafenbahnhof (harbour railway station). Designed by architect HG Merz, it has been a central point of aviation history since its reopening in 1996. The museum’s 4,000 m² of exhibition space is devoted to the story of the Zeppelins, their engineering marvels, and their cultural impact. At the heart of the collection is a full‑scale, partially reconstructed model of the LZ 129 Hindenburg, complete with realistic interior mooring and furnishing. Visitors can walk through its middle and upper decks and feel the cabin atmosphere of the 1930s. An original engine nacelle from the LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin and a rare Maybach Zeppelin car provide tangible links to the era’s technological breakthroughs. Beyond the historical artifacts, the museum offers a dynamic learning environment. Interactive stations and simulation labs allow children and school groups to grasp flight physics and air‑ship engineering hands‑on. Guided tours, multimedia presentations, and a dedicated “Wonder Chamber” enrich the experience for all ages. The museum is open daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with admission tickets available at the museum shop. Visitors are encouraged to plan their visit in advance if they wish to participate in guided tours or special exhibitions that may require prior booking.
