Baroque Palace Mannheim
About
Barockschloss Mannheim is one of Europe’s largest Baroque palaces, sprawling over 6 hectares with a 400‑metre‑long façade. Originally the residence of the Electorate of the Palatinate, it now serves both as a major cultural landmark and a central hub for the University of Mannheim. Visitors wander freely through grand rooms such as the Rittersaal, the expansive Ehrenhof courtyard, and the Schlosskirche, while a virtual‑reality tour offers a baroque‑style experience of the otherwise inaccessible library of Kurfürstin Elisabeth. Guided tours, an interactive museum showcasing tapestries, paintings, porcelain and silverware, and a mobile app “Monument BW” enrich the visit. The palace is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday and 10:00 to 17:00 Saturday and Sunday, offers free admission with no prior booking required.
