Stathis Samantas designs shoes the way an artist works his work. He deals exclusively with the design and overall set-up of his collection, which gives it a recognizable style and personal character. There is a design austerity, geometry and unexpected design "tricks" married with different materials and two colors or three colors. Applied art is the best description for the designer's collection which goes through a handmade process that requires patience and mastery. Inside each shoe box there is a story written by the designer himself who tries to explore the relationship that women have with their shoes, examining the psychological meaning of these objects. The stories are based on real women's narratives but also on the designer's thoughts. It is a dialogue between himself and the women with the freedom of expression. It is the living dynamic that is inherent in the human psyche, the space from which desire springs in search of what it lacks.
