This is a small lake area of 450 acres,built by the Greek Electricity Supply Company in 1923 for the electrification of Chaniaand in 20099 after 80 years,was given to the local community because of its ecological character(Natura).Today it hosts,perhaps the largest variety of aquati plants in Creta and many important species of ferns and frogs and it is a haven for lots of migratory and birds!
