When visiting our beehive garden at Polemarhi village, you will be taking part in a beehive tour. After wearing the beekeeper's hat and veil, we will open a beehive and see the honey, brood, worker bees, drones - maybe even the queen bee. We will taste honey straight from the honeycomb. Then you are welcome as guests to our house, where we discuss the nutritional value of honey and bee pollen, the important position of the beehive in the ecosystem for the last 110 million years, their reducing numbers and how civilization contributes to that threat, plus more. You will be tasting honey the way it is eaten in Crete; this includes delicacies such as honey, be pollen, pasteli and rakomelo from our own production. Additionally, Cretan mountain herb tea, nuts, local gruyere cheese and rusk will all be served with honey. If you wish, honey and bee pollen are available for sale. The daily tour is arranged following contact. Price per person: adults €25, children from 7 to 14 years old: €15.
