Nirou Terra

Taking inspiration from the neighbouring Nirou Palace, Nirou Terra is the contemporary reimagining of the lands of Nirou, the playgrounds of his palace, and his threshold to the sea. Traditional Cretan architectural elements are used to create a space that is organic in its materiality, sensitive to its natural surroundings and contextual to its history: dry stone walls blend into the scrubby landscape, bare tree trunk columns in their raw form support canopies of dried palm trees leaves, large stone pavers from the nearby mountains are embedded in the ground under your feet. A beach bar and restaurant, located on the beach in Kokkini Chani, directly opposite the Nirou antiquities and only 15 km from Heraklion city. Step off the main road and into another place and another pace. An inspiring and laid-back atmosphere from day to night, bask in the glow of every incredible sunset and create your own summer ritual. We are open daily through the Summer season.
