Delphi
About
Delphi is an iconic archaeological site perched on Mount Parnassus, famed for its mythic oracle and rich Roman and Greek heritage. The site features the impressive Temple of Apollo, the dramatic Tholos, and the ancient theatre, all set against lush mountain scenery. Visitors walk the Sacred Way, view the Castalian Spring, and explore the remains of the stadium and gymnasium. In 2024 visitors can easily reach the site from Athens via the A1 motorway and purchase online tickets—Full €20 or Reduced €10—while free admission is granted on selected days such as 6 March and the first and third Sundays of winter. The museum on site hosts architectural sculptures, statuettes, and artifacts spanning the eighth century BC to Late Antiquity. The site operates daily from 08:00 – 20:00 in summer (April 1 – October 31) and 08:30 – 15:30 in winter (November 1 – March 31), with special closing times for holidays. It is fully accessible to visitors with mobility challenges through a special vehicle scheme. A moderate visit of 1.5 hours is recommended, though a deeper exploration of the museum and surrounding terraces can extend the journey to two hours.
