Old Perithia
About
One of the island's oldest 'hideaway' villages (of Venetian origins). Undeniably its best preserved. To get into the history*, do a little research on its history ahead of your visit to enjoy the whole village experience. There are 130 houses, 1 shop, 5 tavernas & 8 churches. The village has been gently coming back to life over the past 12 years, from 12-15% restored to over 35%+ today (it's 'work in progress' ;)) This was thanks to an Anglo-Dutch couple [Mark & Saskia] who came to the village back in 2010 made numerous improvements & restored 3 ruins as a (now) famous b&b (sold in 2021). You can get the most out of your visit with the best combination walking tour & history of the village with 'The Official Guide to Old Perithia' available at: old-perithia.com - a hand/handbag sized book including a self-guided 2.5km circular walk around the village & the fascinating history of its past, present & future. As featured on ITV, Channel 4, the BBC and numerous press articles worldwide.
