The Kastro in Naxos Town is a 13‑century Venetian fortress perched atop the island’s historic acropolis. It houses the 16th‑century Catholic Cathedral of Naxos, the Glezos Tower, the Sanudo Tower, and the remnants of a medieval court. Within the castle grounds are the island’s Archaeological Museum and the Venetian Museum, offering insights into Naxos’s Greek, Byzantine, and Venetian past. Visitors stroll along the original walls, admire the Cathedral’s stained‑glass windows, and enjoy panoramic views of the harbor from the great gate (Trani Porta).
