About
Vai Beach, located on the eastern coast of Crete near the village of Palaikastro, is famed for its unique palm forest and sheltered shoreline. The beach stretches 256 m long and 57 m wide, backed by a small dune and the historic Vai Palm Forest – one of the largest surviving palm groves in Greece. Visitors arrive via a 1 km paved road, can park in a wide lot, and explore the beach lined with sun‑shields rented by the day. Around the beach a small restaurant offers local cuisine and public restrooms are available. Although the beach is popular and can get crowded during peak season, it remains accessible with an admission fee; overnight stays are prohibited and visitors should seek accommodation in nearby villages such as Palaikastro.
