About
Children’s Railway, Budapest is a unique narrow‑gauge attraction that has been operated by children since 1948. Stretching 11.7 km from Széchenyihegy to Hűvösvölgy, the line winds through the scenic Buda Hills, passing stations such as Normafa, Csillebérc, and Jánoshegy. Visitors can enjoy a 40‑ to 50‑minute ride powered by a diesel locomotive and occasionally a historic steam engine, while the Hűvösvölgy station hosts an interactive museum and souvenir shop. The railway is free for children under six, provides child tickets for ages six to eighteen, and accepts cash (HUF) only.
