Gyongyosi Betyarcsarda
About
On the eastern edge of Zala county, four kilometres from Hévíz, which is the biggest thermal lake in Europe can we find the Gyöngyösi wayside inn. The inn is situated at the foot of gently sloping hills hiding in the shadow of large trees. Among the Hungarian outlaw inns in Transdanubia, this is the oldest (1729) and most well-known one.The inn has a special atmosphere and patina-and there are several outlaw legends in connection with it-earlier it was one of the most well-known hostelry in western Transdanubia along the market routes. The exhibited objects show us the vanishing area of highwayman’s life. The inn has a monument character and it is also worth mentioning two outlaw graves, which are the resting places of Illés Vak and Pista Kökes. We offer the guests traditional dishes and local specialities as well and they can choose from the different quality wines of the region. Good flavours are made more enjoyable with gipsy music in the evening, and horse programs in the summer.
