The Svavar Guðnason- Svavarssafn art museum is open all year round. In our gallery we show the works of Svavar Guðnason regularly, but we also promote other local and non local artists. The museum is located across the supermarket Netto´s parking space in a wood covered building attached to the city hall (Ráðhús). Svavar Guðnason (1909- was part of the COBRA movement in art. The name was drawn from the cities the artist worked in Copenhagen, Brussel and Amsterdam. He was a abstract painter, master of colours and light. He was a innovator and one of the most outstanding ambassadors of his generation, introducing new approaches which he and some of his contemporaries promoted vigorously. No entry fee.
