Harpa Reykjavik Concert Hall and Conference Centre
About
Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, also known simply as Harpa, stands proudly at the old harbour in Reykjavík. Officially opened on 4 May 2011, the 1,800‑seat venue quickly became a cultural flagship, hosting concerts, conferences, exhibitions and festivals. Designed by a collaboration of Olafur Eliasson, Henning Larssen Architects and Icelandic firm Batteri, Harpa’s striking glass façade mirrors the sea and city while its interior blends acoustic excellence with versatile spaces. Harpa serves as the home venue of the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and is a premier conference centre accredited by the MICE Report. In addition to its musical heritage, Harpa offers a variety of events throughout the year, including the well‑known Volcano Express tour and festive Christmas buffets that showcase both Icelandic and Italian culinary traditions. The venue’s adaptable layout supports concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and festivals, making it a top hub for business and cultural events in Iceland. Visitors can explore the stunning acoustics of the auditorium, enjoy the dynamic LED and glass installations, and experience world‑class performances in a landmark setting.
