Blennerville Windmill
About
Blennerville Windmill, perched on the shore of Tralee Bay, is Ireland’s only operational tower windmill and a prominent landmark on the Wild Atlantic Way. Built in 1800 and restored to working order in the 1990s, the five‑storey stone mill still turns its sails and grinds flour with historic French stones, giving visitors a living window into the country’s milling heritage. The adjacent visitor centre offers a guided windmill tour, an immersive audio‑visual presentation, a Jeanie Johnson emigration exhibit, a model railway show, a craft centre and a small café. In the surrounding gardens, a telescope points to the bird‑rich Tralee Bay Nature Reserve, while panoramic vistas of the Dingle Peninsula add to the experience.
