About

Centre reopens to public 1 May 2025: then open Tues-Thurs 10am-3pm (last entry 2.30pm) see web for details. Our App guiding a walk from the Centre is available all year round incorporating the Guards & Internee graves, the site of the former Camp & the Garden of Barbed Wire which provides a quiet spot to sit and reflect. Download the App via our website (incl our family quiz walk option). See website re Apr to Sept bookings in advance for private descendant Internee Review appointments; group bookings; as well as for special events and openings. At the site of the largest WW1 Internment Camp, where over 30,000 German, Austro-Hungarian & Turkish civilian men were interned behind its barbed wire between 1914 & 1919, the Centre tells the story of the internees, guards & staff, with an interactive scale model of Knockaloe Camp & our wonderful collections of artefacts created by the internees. We are a Registered Charity - we do not charge for public entry but really welcome donations.
