About

The Craveri Civic Museum started as a private collection in the first half of the 19th Century thanks to the work of Angelo Craveri. His two elder sons, Federico and Ettore, inherited their father's passion for natural sciences and greatly increased his collection. In his prime, Federico lived, studied and worked in Mexico: this gave him the chance to travel and explore Northern America (Mexico, USA and Canada), allowing him to collect a great amount of natural history specimens (mostly minerals and animals). When Federico died in 1890, his heirs donated his family's collections to the City of Bra, in Piedmont (Italy). Today's exhibition dates back to 1974 and currently the Museum is composed by 12 halls, each one dedicated to a specific aspect of natural sciences. The Museum also includes a garden and a greenhouse full of succulent plants.
