Touriseum
About
The Touriseum, officially known as the Südtiroler Landesmuseum für Tourismus, is a unique cultural landmark situated on Schloss Trauttmansdorff in Merano. It offers a dynamic journey through 250 years of alpine tourism history, highlighted by an engaging museum trail that invites visitors to explore the evolution of travel and hospitality in the region. The museum’s collection, made up of more than 20,000 objects, is complemented by interactive exhibits, guided tours, and special thematic displays that appeal to travelers, historians, and curious minds alike. In addition to the museum core, visitors are encouraged to wander through the nearby gardens of Schloss Trauttmansdorff, where the four themed gardens—forest, sunny, water, and terrace—provide a natural extension of the educational experience. The Touriseum is family-friendly, offering tailored programs for children and school groups, and is accessible to visitors with disabilities. Outdoor family activities such as picnics in the gardens, a café in the castle, and special child-oriented exhibitions create an inclusive environment for all ages. Staff members are dedicated to providing knowledgeable guidance, ensuring that each visit is both informative and memorable. Admission to the museum is free, allowing unlimited access to the permanent and temporary exhibitions, while optional paid services—such as guided tours and special events—enhance the experience for those who desire a more in-depth exploration. The museum’s accessibility, combined with its rich historical narrative, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the cultural heritage of South Tyrol.
