Il Frutteto
About
Il Frutteto is a typical Piedmont farmhouse, known as a CIABOT, and has been home to generations of farming families. The house was inherited by Giuliana, who sympathetically restored it, transforming it into a welcoming paradise that blends seamlessly into its NATURAL surroundings. The renovation has benefitted from the traditional use of local wood and stone, while introducing a modern touch with large windows and an oriental twist. "The presence of this oriental philosophy makes the surroundings particularly relaxing". Il Frutteto is located at the foot of Monviso, immersed in the greenery of the orchards in a sunny, quiet position, amidst an impressive landscape, which is picturesque in every season. Within easy reach by bicycle from the B&B are the "Lagnasco Castle" one of the most interesting historical dwellings in South Piedmont and the historical town of Saluzzo, famous for its rich artistic heritage and the numerous works of medieval art to be found there. There is plenty of great local food to try out in the Saluzzo area such as "gnocchi della Val Varaita", "fritto misto" and "chocolate bunet" which are well worth tasting, as well as famous cheeses served with preserves, like the "tumin del mel" which is exquisite with honey and a glass of "Quagliano", a fine wine produced in the hills around Lagnasco. Other interesting places to visit in the area and just a short drive away are the Langhe hills and the city of Alba, famous for Barolo wine and truffles.
