About
The Como–Brunate funicular is a historic metre‑gauge railway that climbs 496 metres between Como and the hilltop village of Brunate, offering spectacular views of Lake Como and surrounding mountains. Open since 1894, the line remains a popular attraction for tourists and locals alike, providing a fast 7‑minute ride between the lakeside city centre and the breezy oasis above. Modern air‑conditioned cars, operating every 15–30 minutes, feature large windows that let passengers enjoy the scenery during the steep 55 % incline.
