Critabianca - Masseria in Salento

Critabianca is a masseria (a traditional Italian farmhouse) built in the 1300s. In the 1700s it was turned into an aristocratic villa and then back into a farmhouse devoted to the production of tobacco in the 1800s. Today, with its six rooms characterized by very different personalities, Critabianca is an elegant country house hotel. Two floors of authenticity where ancient pleasures meet contemporary pleasures: percale sheets and sateen cotton, light gauze curtains, original furniture and chests, ceramics, olive trees, prickly pears and jasmine. Our gourmet breakfast, the intimate candlelight dinner and our convivial aperitivo with mediterranean delicacies are our special daily appointments to be savoured. The vegetables from our kitchen garden, fish from local fishers, herbs and vegetables from the hinterland, the recipes of our family and of the Salento tradition are the ingredients characterising our refined cuisine, prepared personally by the hosts. Critabianca is indeed owned and run by the Ghione family itself. Critabianca is strategically located in the heart of Salento, in Grecìa Salentina. From Cutrofiano, our village, travelling by car, it is possible to reach the beaches of Gallipoli within 20 minutes (20 km) and the bastion of Otranto in 30 minutes (30 km); in a 30 minute drive it is possible to enjoy Lecce’s exuberant baroque (30 km). Maglie’s secular olive trees are only 15 minutes away (10 km) as well as the beautiful church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria in Galatina (8 km).
