About
Casertavecchia was the seat of the Bishop of Caserta and of the Countess Siffridina. They represented both the classical powers of the Middle Ages, the ecclesiastical and the secular. In the second half of the eighteenth century (1752) there was an epochal shift because both the Bishop and the Countess Siffridina's family moved to Caserta, the royal seat of King Ferdinand of Bourbon.
