About

The Area Archeologica di Roselle is a remarkable open‑air museum that brings to life the ancient Etruscan city of Roselle. Perched on an elliptical hill overlooking the plain of Grosseto, the site preserves monumental tombs, terracotta baths, a Roman amphitheatre and the remnants of a civic forum, offering visitors a rare glimpse of Etruscan and Roman urbanism. Guided walks through the necropolis and the Roman baths allow visitors to feel the echo of daily life in antiquity, while the amphitheater stands as a testament to the region’s rich heritage. The museum is also part of the Maremma Cultural Corridor, linking it to other historic sites in the region. With free admission on the first Sunday of each month, fitting into a day of cultural exploration is easy. All dayrooms open from 9:45 am to 6:45 pm, providing ample time to wander the ruins and absorb the history hidden beneath a toric hilltop.
