La Festa dei Ceri, also known as Saint Ubaldo Day, is a celebration day to honor Bishop Ubaldo Baldassini. Every year on May 15, the evening of his death, the people of Gubbio celebrate the protector of their city with a procession. They walk as quickly as possible down the streets with statues of three saints on wooden pedestals. Along the way thousands of spectators, citizens, and tourists, watch the colorful scene. The procession ends in the Basilica di Sant'Ubaldo on mount Ingino. The Gubbio traditions are very important for this little town and celebration has remained mostly authentic.
