IN THE HEART OF OLD MILAN Terrazza Aperol sits between past and future, tradition and modernity, in the huge Autogrill Duomo Store multi-concept centre in Milan, on the original site of Caffè Motta (Milan, 1928). The first Caffè Bar Motta, in Galleria Carlo Alberto, was designed by the architect Melchiorre Bega. Its interior design blending Italian tradition with the innovations of futurism helped define the identity of the typical "Italian bar" known all over the world. For three generations, Caffè Motta was a meeting point for the Milanese, a place where the urban trajectories of the bourgeoisie intersected those of the city's students, intellectuals and artists. v
