About

The residence was born from the renovation and recovery of a typical casina of the Itria valley, which dates back to 1928, and was entirely built out of stone using a similar technique to the one used to build the trulli. The house originally consisted of only three rooms: the entrance hall, a kitchen on the left with a large fireplace and a bedroom on the right. It was also equipped with an underlying cellar and, below that, a cistern of water which is said to be the greatest in the district. Rainwater, a precious resource for a dry land like ours, was conducted from the terrace provided with a rounded roof connected to the cistern through a canal system. The water was then drawn from the cistern with an iron bucket. This canal system and the cistern are still in use nowadays to irrigate the lawn and all the greenery that surrounds you. "We wanted to give new life to our home by preserving its original integrity and beauty, respecting the territory and its identity." Stone, lime and iron have been precious materials in the hands of skilled local craftsmen, who have managed to combine respect for tradition with the most modern technologies in order to offer our guests a high level of comfort.
