About
The Temple of Apollo in Pompeii, originally constructed in 120 BC, is a Roman temple dedicated to the Greek and Roman god Apollo. Situated in the town’s forum and facing north, the temple showcases a peripteral layout of 48 Ionic columns and a prominent cella that once housed a marble altar and a sundial. As the oldest surviving Roman temple in Pompeii, its blend of Greek Ionic and Roman Corinthian styles and its preserved architectural elements make it a key monument for scholars and visitors alike.
