About

Nuraghe la Prisgiona, located in the Capichera valley of Arzachena in north‑Sardinia, is one of the island’s most remarkable Nuragic archaeological sites. The complex consists of a central tower—the "Keep"—and two side towers forming a bastion, surrounded by a curtain wall and a large courtyard. Inside the Keep lies a false dome more than six meters high, while the surrounding bastion contains a well that is still functional and over seven meters deep, yielding a wealth of ceramic artefacts. Alongside the main complex lies the village, spread over five hectares and comprising roughly 90–100 huts. Their organised blocks, paved lanes, and specialized crafts shed light on the daily life and economy of the Bronze Age community. A distinctive meeting hut, with a ring‑shaped bench for 16 seats, hints at the administrative and ceremonial roles the site played. Visitors to the site can explore the impressive architecture, walk the original village streets, and learn about the Nuragic civilization’s advanced construction techniques, water management, and social structure.
