Baia di Ieranto
About
Baia di Ieranto is a secluded coastal gem located just north of Sorrento, reachable by a moderate 50‑minute walk from Nerano. The bay offers crystal‑clear waters framed by the iconic Faraglioni rock stacks of Capri, making it a popular spot for kayaking, snorkeling and marine biology enthusiasts. In addition to leisurely beach time, visitors can explore the remaining industrial ruins of an old quarry and enjoy the lush Mediterranean vegetation that the FAI has restored and preserved. Guided tours of 2–3 hours are available for those who wish to dive deeper into the bay’s ecological, geological and historical narratives. School groups can also join with prior booking, while the general public can access the area freely daily from dawn until one hour before sunset. The foundation encourages visitors to support conservation through donations or participation in scheduled events. A small picnic area under olive trees permits a modest €1 contribution for up to two hours of use, and the site welcomes pets on a leash. Despite its natural beauty, the entrance trail can be challenging, so suitable footwear and preparation are advised. Overall, Baia di Ieranto offers an authentic Italian seaside experience where nature and heritage intertwine in spectacular harmony.
