About
Riserva Naturale Orientata Monte Cofano is a protected coastal promontory on the western coast of Sicily, encompassing 537.5 hectares of limestone cliffs, rocky outcrops and a variety of Mediterranean flora. The reserve is celebrated for its rich Triassic fossil record, speleological features and abundant bird life, including peregrine falcons and the rare Bonelli’s eagle. Visitors can follow marked trails that wind through sandy dunes, exposed bedrock and seasonal wetlands, enjoying sweeping views of the Tyrrhenian Sea while gaining insight into the geological and ecological importance of the area.
