Located underground of the Cathedral, the early Christian Basilica of St. Vigilius is a veritable treasure trove. The area was brought to light by excavations between 1964 and 1977, and to re-emerge was the original place of worship whose foundation is attributed to Vigilius, the third bishop and patron saint of Trent, whose remains were preserved there for centuries. The extensive and articulated archaeological area presents an incredible setting that spans centuries dense with history. To make the visit even more evocative, visitors can find a new itinerary enriched by videos, multimedia stations and immersive virtual reality viewers.
