About

Vilnius University Museum has several departments. Firstly, one of the central units of the VU Museum is the University's architectural ensemble, St. John's Church, and the bell tower. Located in the heart of Vilnius Old Town, the architectural ensemble tells a story of almost 500 years of history. The bell tower is the tallest building in Vilnius Old Town (68 m). The bell tower's observation deck is reached by 193 authentic wooden steps or a modern elevator. Secondly, the Adam Mickiewicz Museum was founded in 1911 to commemorate Adam Mickiewicz's life and work. Finally, the "Observatory of Ideas" is a space for education, leisure, and science communication in the unique location of the historical observatory complex on Čiurlionio Street.
