Frogner had in early Middle Ages their parish church. It is first mentioned in a report of 1327, but is probably older than the year 1200 The church burned in 1651. Only in 1694 was the new church finished. It stands on the old church space, and is supposedly built on the ruins of the old church. Frogner kirke was expanded into a cruciform church.
